February 20th, 2019: Yoga, Mental Space, and I’m giving away my book!

Can you believe how noisy our minds are?

At any given moment, our thoughts are inundated with problems we must solve, to-do lists, conversations, entertainment, distractions, self-talk. Maybe this is just me, but I feel like I go through my life in an endless conversation with myself, detailing what must be done and how I’m going to do it, fighting self-doubt, caring for my family, running my business, writing… The chatter never ceases. Not until I take a deep breath, and remind myself:

I have permission to just be.

I do not have to be held captive to any bit of emotion that flits through my mind, and I don’t have to embody whatever impulse goes through me.

This is, to me, the most valuable part of establishing a daily yoga and meditation practice. You become an observer of your internal world like a lighthouse looking out on a snowstorm, shining on whatever passes through. No emotion, pleasant or challenging, lasts forever. They are all part of the same cosmic dance of peace, anger, happiness, sadness, hidden disappointments, surprise victories… Moving snow over the ocean. Pieces of the self drifting out to sea.

Keep breathing and moving.

What does anger feel like? Where do you feel it first?

How about sadness? Guilt? Shame?

They each have their own unique signature, their own little temporary imprint on consciousness that melts under scrutiny.

Book News

February 20th is finally here. This is a day of freedom! A day of shaking off KDP Select bonds, and roaring like a majestic, cheesy-ass lion! Today – today! – is the day that “Warmth: A Paranormal Romance Novella” is finally out of the KDP Select program.


I am now able to give this book away for free to the public.

On the whole, I was satisfied with my experience at KDP Select. Their five promotional free days were a great way to boost downloads and sales, even when not used together in one, monolithic chunk at the very beginning. This was a fantastic learning experience that I’m glad I ran on a shorter, stand-alone story rather than on my upcoming series.

But now, it is time to do what I actually set out to do, which is to make “Warmth” a free story.

I am going to be giving “Warmth: A Paranormal Romance Novella,” away through Wattpad, Draft2Digital, and ProlificWorks, provided their TOS allows this. You guessed it: I have a lot of administrative tasks to do today, exciting ones, boring ones… Tasks gallore. Let’s do this.

  1. Well, Liv, it seems that once again congratulations are in order! It’s nice to see your career is coming along nicely in spite of all the distractions daily life throws at you. I somehow always have known you could do whatever you put your mind to.

    We all go through periods of self-doubt. Fortunately, we’re busy enough to just work through it and later realize it wasn’t justified. We all go through the emotions you mentioned and like everything else that’s thrown at us, it’s all a matter of how we deal with them.

    Things are about the same with me. For the time being I still work and try to keep busy. I am working on one personal issue which I can’t discuss now but I believe will come to fruition in the next year or so. You will be among the first to know if and when it happens.

    It was nice reading your blog again. I realize it isn’t at the top of your priority list, but it’s nice to hear from you when you do post. Continued success to you.
