When you awoke, I hope you felt warm.

Good morning, World 🙂

When you awoke, I hope you felt warm. Spring is drawing ever closer and there’s nothing quite like waking up to a fresh ray of sunlight melting the last of the snow outside. Do you have any plans for the day? Are you up to some new adventure that would make the internet shriek in horrified reproach? I do hope so. Propriety is overrated. Go forth and rattle a cage or two.

Cage rattling aside, so much has happened of late!

I finally feel settled in to our new home. This is the first time in my life that I have ever owned my own house, and upon reflection, the freedom and responsibility that this entails still strikes me. My husband and I have accomplished so much in these past couple of years, including getting married in the first place, changing careers, moving from state to state, having a beautiful baby girl, buying our own home — and come to find out, our adventure has only just begun.

Because get this.

Several days ago, I found out that I am 10 weeks pregnant.

I’m so excited I can hardly stand it. So many questions, so much to do in the coming 6 months or so! It all feels so soon, but we are ready for this next tremendous step! Felicity is almost two and a half now and she could use a friend. She’s so smart it’s frightening sometimes. She can count to twenty, recite much of the alphabet, and understands a few words in Georgian, and it would be wonderful if she could have some company in the years to come.

What else is there to mention? There’s always writing news, right? Alright then, let’s dig in.

While I set the ambitious goal of writing 5k a week every single week of 2020, this goal has been… Well… Dead on arrival, you could say.

I sat down at my computer with every intention of banging out the final book in my Wandering Wolves trilogy, only to realize that I could probably save myself a lot of developmental work later by going back and rereading/taking notes on the previous two books. This realization led to procrastination on my part. In between working full time at the hotel, watching a toddler and trying to keep the house in working order, forcing myself to focus on my literary endeavors proved to be a formidable challenge. At least now I understand why I was so exhausted! The first trimester is always the worst, and I’m fortunate that I am finally entering the calm waters of the second. And just in time for Spring 🙂

Today is my day off (ha), so my goals are simple:

  • Write a blog post
  • Do yoga
  • Grocery shop
  • Go to the bank
  • Read, summarize, and annotate 5 chapters of Wandering Wolves
  • Create art
  • Clean house
  • Cook dinner

What are your plans for the day? Let me know, let’s get some shit done!

xoxo Liv

  1. Well, first of all congratulations on your pregnancy! And yes, Felicity could use a friend. With all you have going on, I can certainly understand why you’re having trouble focusing on your writing. You have what amounts to three full-time jobs! And apparently your focus is in the right place, so good for you! That can’t be easy, because you have a lot of responsibilities. It makes the time you took to write this blog today even more special to those of us who care. I’ve been wondering how you’re doing.

As for me, I finally retired! My last day of work was December 27th. I’m still adjusting somewhat, but I do have somewhat of a daily routine. I go to the gym every day, so I don’t fall apart! After working all your life, you can’t just suddenly stop. I found out I actually like it. And I go out for the day a couple days a week and the other days I take care of stuff. I plan on doing some domestic travel a little later.

So, that’s about it! It was really nice hearing from you and I’m glad things are going well for you! I know you’re crazy busy, but some people thrive on that. Apparently, you’re one of those!

  2. Aw, thank you Bill! 🙂

Congratulations on retiring! Your time in the Wawa trenches is over, by god. It’s strange how gaining freedom can leave a hole in your life somehow, and going to the gym is a great way of filling your time. Exercise has such amazing effects on both your mind and your body, and it even has the power to help you grow more brain cells and repair DNA damage. Isn’t that crazy? Keep getting after it! 🙂

Lol, busy is definitely the word for it! It’s my day off today (I work as a receptionist at Hilton now), so I’m taking advantage of it by getting up at 6am and working on my books. It’d be nice to have a little book sale money in the bank by the time our baby arrives 🙂

Thank you for staying in touch and nice work on taking care of yourself!

  3. Congratulations on your preganancy, I wish you a safe and healthy one. I don’t have any routine when it comes to writing, but I’m trying to get back into it. I think I’ll do 1000 words a day.
